2026 Medal of Valor Recipient

Los Santos: Martin Ramirez is a Patrol Officer assigned to Pacific Area. On February 11, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Officer Melendez was patrolling the area of Vespucci Beach. Officer Melendez heard an explosion, and numerous 911 calls were received reporting an explosion with multiple persons injured. Officer Melendez was one of the first officers to arrive on scene.
Upon arrival, Officer Melendez found multiple persons injured, including Sergeant I Mario Ibarra. Officer Melendez immediately exited his vehicle and rushed to aid those injured. After locating Sergeant Ibarra, Officer Melendez dragged him away from the blast zone to an area of safety. Officer Melendez then provided aid to Sergeant Ibarra until the arrival of LSFD paramedics. Officer Melendez, with the assistance of other officers, went on to aid in tending to 26 other civilians injured in the explosion.
Officer Melendez was awarded the Medal of Valor for the heroism and bravery he displayed during these unprecedented circumstances.
