Vespucci: Los Santos Police Department's (LSPD) Major Crimes Division, Federal Investigation Bureau (FIB), and the Bureau of Firearms, Alcohol, Tobacco (FAT) investigates Vespucci Promenade Bombing.
On February 11, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a coordinated terrorist bombing attack occurred in the Vespucci Beach area. LSPD officers, along with emergency services, responded to reports of multiple explosions near the boardwalk. Upon arrival, officers discovered extensive damage, numerous casualties, and civilians attempting to flee the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that two explosive devices were detonated in quick succession, causing significant destruction and mass casualties. LSPD officers, the LSPD Major Incident Response Team (MIRT), and the Los Santos Fire Department (LSFD) responded swiftly to the scene, securing the area and providing immediate aid to the injured. A mass casualty incident (MCI) was declared by emergency responders as they began triaging victims.
Sergeant Mario Ibarra was fatally wounded in the first explosion while attempting to investigate a suspicious package. Additionally, Sergeant Zack Clovis sustained severe injuries from the blast and was transported to a nearby trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.
In total, approximately 60 victims were impacted by the attack. 27 individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene, while 33 others sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe. LSFD paramedics and medical teams worked tirelessly to stabilize those affected. Their identities are withdrawn for privacy reasons.
Federal Investigation Bureau (FIB) and the Bureau of Firearms, Alcohol, Tobacco (FAT), have taken charge of the investigation. The Evidence Response Team has been deployed to collect and analyze evidence, and determine the origin and nature of the explosive devices. Witnesses are being interviewed, and security footage from the surrounding area is under review. The FIB's Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) has been charged with using state of-the-art tools and services to provide critical information to law enforcement, national security, and intelligence community partners across the globe.
The investigation will be subject to review by the Chief of Police, the Board of Police Commissioners, and the Office of the Inspector General to ensure thoroughness and compliance with investigative protocols. Law enforcement agencies are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in identifying those responsible for this tragic event.
